Population

The Grants Pass Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) population 1/ increased from 36,368 in 1970 to 82,172in 2010. That was an increase of 125.9 percent.

The foreign-born (FB) population increased from 978 in 1970 to 2,340 in 2010. That was an increase of 139.3 percent. The foreign-born share changed from 2.7 percent to 2.8 percent.

The share of the overall population that was native-born (NB) increased by 125.6 percent from 1970 to 2010.

The first chart below shows the three population change factors for three periods adjusted for annual average amounts. Natural change (B-D) was negative and domestic migration (NDM) accounted for most of the added population in all periods.

The second chart shows the same data but with an adjustment to reflect births to immigrants shifted to NIM. In it, the same pattern continued to apply.
